In short
Zoho Books plans are priced and chosen per organization, so a group can put each company on a different plan. On Zoho’s UK plan pages opened on 29 Oct 2026, budgeting starts at Premium, transaction locking at Standard and multi-currency invoicing at Professional. No plan listed on the comparison page adds a combined report for several organizations.
Key takeaways
- Plans are per organization. Zenvara and Quillfern can be on different plans.
- Match the plan to what each company does: locking from Standard, foreign-currency invoicing from Professional, budgets from Premium.
- No row on Zoho’s comparison page covers consolidation, so no plan removes the group-level work.
- Check your own region’s page. Zoho’s regional editions differ in prices and in some limits.
Checked against Zoho’s help centre on 29 Oct 2026. The tables on this page were read from Zoho’s UK pricing pages on 29 Oct 2026. Zoho changes plans often, so check the pages before you decide.
Does a group need one plan or several?
Zoho prices paid plans per organization: the UK pricing page quotes every price per organisation per month1. A new organization starts with a 14-day trial of Premium, after which you subscribe separately for it2 or move to the free plan5. A group of five Zoho Books companies is therefore five subscriptions, and each can be chosen on its own merits.
That is useful. A holding company that only records a few journals does not need the plan of an operating company with foreign customers and a budget. It also means the choice is a company decision, not a group decision.
What does each Zoho Books plan include that matters for a group?
Plans carry many features. These are the ones that bear on running several companies as a group, taken from Zoho’s UK comparison page.
| Feature | Free | Standard | Professional | Premium | Elite | Ultimate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price per organization per month, billed annually (GBP) | 0 | 10 | 20 | 25 | 85 | 165 |
| Price per organization per month, billed monthly (GBP) | 0 | 12 | 24 | 30 | 99 | 199 |
| Users | 1 and 1 accountant | 3 | 5 | 10 | 10 | 15 |
| Transaction locking | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Multi-currency invoicing and automatic exchange rates | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Multi-currency per customer and per vendor | No | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Budgeting | No | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Reporting tag options per tag | No | 2,000 | 2,000 | 2,000 | 5,000 | 5,000 |
| API requests per day | 1,000 | 2,000 | 5,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 |
| Zoho Analytics integration | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Three cautions apply. First, regional editions differ. One other edition we opened lists 15 and 25 users for Elite and Ultimate, where the UK page lists 10 and 15. Second, Locations appears differently in Zoho’s own pages: the UK comparison page puts it in plan columns, while the UK pricing page quotes it as an add-on per location, so it is left out of the table. Third, Zoho’s regional prices are in local currencies, so the table is a guide to what the UK edition says, not a quote.
Older articles also give different tiers for some features. When a blog post or a review disagrees with Zoho’s current comparison page, the page wins, and the date on it is what makes it citable.
Free: Zoho Books group set-up checklist
This free Excel checklist covers the decisions and steps for running a group of companies on Zoho Books: organizations, locations and reporting tags, base currencies, the exchange rate source, intercompany accounts, transaction locking, user roles and how the group is combined. Each step links to the Zoho help page that covers it, with an owner, a status and a done percentage.
- Thirty-two decisions and steps in eight areas, from structure to group reporting.
- The Zoho help page for each step, with its link, checked on 29 October 2026.
Which plan does each company in the example group need?
Suppose Zenvara Group Ltd, the parent, wants budgets in Zoho Books and invoices customers in several currencies, including Quillfern GmbH in euros. It needs budgeting and currency handling for individual customers: Premium. Quillfern GmbH keeps its own books in euros, locks each month after its close and does not budget in Zoho Books, so Standard gives it transaction locking4. Locking matters to a group’s close because a locked month stops a figure the group has already reported from changing quietly.
| Zenvara, PremiumGBP 25 a month, billed annually | 300 |
| Quillfern, StandardGBP 10 a month, billed annually | 120 |
| Zoho Books subscriptions for the two organizationsGBP 35 a month, for twelve months | 420 |
Example group used across Finconsol guides. UK edition prices, 29 Oct 2026, exclusive of local taxes. Put both on Premium and the year costs 600.
Taking both companies to Premium for budgets in each would cost GBP 600 for the year, which is 180 more. Whether that is worth it depends on whether the subsidiary needs its own budget in Zoho Books, or whether the group budget is held elsewhere.
Does a higher plan give the group a combined report?
No row on the comparison page we opened mentions organizations, consolidation or multi-entity reporting3. Some websites say consolidated reporting sits on the top plans. We found nothing on Zoho’s comparison page to support that, so we do not repeat it. A higher plan adds features for the organization it belongs to, such as more users and tag options. It does not combine it with the next one.
The group-level work is the same on any plan: a shared chart, translation into the group currency, intercompany comparison and eliminations, and non-controlling interest. The guide to Zoho Books for a group of companies sets out those jobs, and the post on whether Zoho Books can consolidate shows what happens when two reports are added without them.
Do API limits matter for a group?
The comparison page lists API requests per day: 1,000 on Free, 2,000 on Standard, 5,000 on Professional and 10,000 from Premium3. Each organization has its own plan, so each has its own daily limit. A group that reads its organizations through the API, in a script of its own or through a tool, should count the requests it needs against the lowest limit among them.
How does Finconsol handle this?
Finconsol does not depend on the plan the company chose for its own purposes. It reads each Zoho Books organization directly, read only, with a refresh every night, and builds the group view that no plan provides: one chart, translation at the group’s closing and average rates, intercompany comparison and elimination, and non-controlling interest.
Companies that are not on Zoho Books come in by trial balance upload: Xero and QuickBooks today, with direct connections coming soon, and any other system. Budgets and latest estimates for the whole group, statistics and KPIs, board packs, and locked months with a change log are part of the same product.
| Company | Books in | How it arrives | Owned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zenvara | Zoho Books | Direct, read only, nightly | Parent |
| Quillfern | Zoho Books | Direct, read only, nightly | 100% |
| Fernhollow | QuickBooks | Trial balance upload | 100% |
| Kestrelwick | Xero | Trial balance upload | 80% |
| Palmridge | Another system | Trial balance upload | 100% |
Questions
Which Zoho Books plan includes budgeting?
On Zoho’s UK comparison page opened on 29 Oct 2026, budgeting starts at Premium, so it is not on Free, Standard or Professional. Elite and Ultimate include it. Budgets are set per organization, so each company needing one needs a plan from Premium.
Do I pay for each Zoho Books organization separately?
Yes, on the pricing pages we opened prices are per organization. Zoho’s help centre says a new organization gets a 14-day Premium trial, and afterwards you subscribe to a plan for it separately or switch it to the free plan.
Which Zoho Books plan includes multi-currency?
Per Zoho’s UK comparison page, multi-currency invoicing and automatic exchange rates start at Professional, and multi-currency transactions per customer and per vendor start at Premium. These tiers have changed over the years, so confirm them on Zoho’s current page.
Which Zoho Books plan has consolidated reporting for several organizations?
None, according to the comparison page we opened. It has no row for organizations, consolidation or multi-entity reporting. Third-party claims that a top plan includes it are not supported by that page.
