Services group reporting and consolidation across offices
A consulting, IT services or agency group with a company in each country needs utilisation, realised rate and revenue per head for the whole group. The accounts hold revenue and staff cost; billable hours and headcount sit in timesheet and HR files. Finconsol consolidates the companies and holds those figures beside the profit and loss.

Companies compared, utilisation
Apr 2026 to Sep 2026The profit and loss says what you earned, not how busy people were
A services group is people. The delivery centre is in one country, the clients are in another, and each office is its own company with its own books. Revenue and staff cost are there at month end.
The questions that decide margin are not: are we billing the people we have, who is on the bench, are we earning the rate we quote, and is attrition eating the profit? Those answers sit in timesheets, HR sheets and the sales pipeline.
- Staff cost without hours. The accounts show what people cost, and nothing about how much of their time was billed.
- Headcount in several places. HR, payroll and each office keep their own count, taken on different days.
- Fees between your own companies. When the delivery centre bills the contracting entity, group revenue and cost both rise until the fee is removed, and revenue per head is overstated.
- Pipeline and clients elsewhere. Pipeline value and new clients live in a sales tool that never meets the accounts.
How groups do it today, and where it breaks
The usual answer is a monthly people-and-profit workbook, assembled from each office by email.
| Question | How it is answered today | Where it breaks | In Finconsol |
|---|---|---|---|
| Utilisation | Billable and available hours pasted from timesheets | Offices count available hours differently, and nobody notices a late sheet | Billable and available hours per company and month; Data Health shows who has sent |
| Revenue per head | Group revenue divided by an HR headcount | Intercompany fees are still in revenue; the headcount basis changes by month | Revenue after eliminations, divided by a headcount line you choose |
| Attrition | Leavers counted in an HR file | Cannot be set beside margin by office | Joiners and leavers as statistic lines, shown next to the profit and loss |
| Collections | A receivables report per company | No group view | Collections as a KPI on the group dashboards |
How Finconsol handles a services group
Bring in every office's books
Zoho Books organizations connect directly and refresh every night. Companies on Xero, QuickBooks or any other system upload a trial balance each month.
Consolidate
Accounts are mapped once to one group chart, each company is translated into the group currency, and fees and balances between your companies are eliminated.
Add the people figures
Hours, headcount, joiners and leavers go in as statistic lines: a grid, a file upload, or sent automatically from your timesheet or HR system.
Switch on the services pack
The statistic lines, dashboards and report layouts below are created for you.
Read it by office and for the group
Open any group figure down to the company and the account behind it.
What the services pack adds
The pack is a starting point. You can change any line, dashboard or layout, add your own, or remove all of it.
| Statistic lines (11) | Lines |
|---|---|
| Time | Billable hours, available hours |
| People | Headcount, billable headcount, joiners, leavers, people on the bench |
| Work and clients | Active projects, active clients, new clients |
| Pipeline | Pipeline value |
| Dashboards (7) | For the question |
|---|---|
| Executive overview | Where is the group this month? |
| Utilisation and capacity | How much of our available time was billed? |
| Revenue and pricing | What are we earning, and at what rate? |
| Profitability | Which company makes the margin? |
| People and attrition | Joiners, leavers and the bench |
| Cash and collections | Are clients paying? |
| Clients and pipeline | Active clients, new clients, pipeline value |
KPIs
Utilisation, realised rate, revenue and cost per head, attrition, collections and clients.
Two draft report layouts
- P&L with staff cost %: the profit and loss with staff cost shown as a share of revenue.
- P&L with utilisation and realised rate: the profit and loss with those two figures beneath it.
What you get
- Group statements: balance sheet, profit and loss and cash flow for any month, quarter or year, with comparisons, tied to a consolidation worksheet that has a column per company.
- People KPIs beside the financials: utilisation, realised rate, revenue and cost per head, for each office and for the group.
- Budget against actual for each company and for the group.
- Board packs with the group's KPIs, refreshed with the month and locked.
Good to know
- Finconsol does not read from your timesheet or HR system. The figures arrive by grid, upload or the key your system uses to send them.
- While a month is in progress, each new figure replaces the previous one for that month. The figure freezes when the month is closed.
- Statistics sit beside the accounts. They are not journal entries and do not change any balance.
- The group reports in one currency. Xero and QuickBooks companies join by trial balance upload today, with direct connections coming soon.
