SaaS group reporting and consolidation with MRR beside the accounts
A subscription software group with a parent, a development subsidiary and sales entities abroad needs MRR, churn and runway for the group, next to a consolidated profit and loss. The accounts hold recognised revenue and cost; subscriptions live in the billing system. Finconsol consolidates the companies and holds both side by side.

Investors ask about MRR. The ledger knows about revenue.
A software group usually has several companies by design: a parent where the product is sold, an engineering subsidiary where it is built, and sales entities in the markets it serves. Each keeps its own books, often in its own currency.
The board and the investors ask different questions: how much recurring revenue are we adding, how much is churning, what does a customer cost to keep, and how many months of cash are left? The ledger cannot answer them on its own.
- Revenue and MRR differ. The accounts show what has been recognised; the billing system shows subscriptions in force and how they moved.
- Cost is in one place, customers in another. Margin per customer needs the consolidated cost and a customer count from elsewhere.
- Fees between your own companies. When the engineering subsidiary charges the parent, group revenue and cost both rise until the fee is removed.
- Runway across currencies. Cash held in several companies and currencies has to be added up at the right rates before it means anything.
How groups do it today, and where it breaks
Most finance teams keep a subscription metrics sheet next to the management accounts and reconcile the two by hand.
| Question | How it is answered today | Where it breaks | In Finconsol |
|---|---|---|---|
| MRR and its movements | Exported from billing into a sheet | The sheet is separate from the profit and loss, so the board reads two documents | New, expansion, contraction and churned MRR as statistic lines beside the P&L |
| Churn and retention | Counted in billing or the CRM | Each entity counts its own, with no group figure | Customers, new customers and customers lost per company and month |
| Unit economics | Group cost pasted next to customer numbers | Intercompany fees are still in the cost | Consolidated cost, after eliminations, set against customers |
| Runway | Cash balances added up in a sheet | Currencies converted at whatever rate was handy | Cash in every company translated at the closing rate for the month |
How Finconsol handles a SaaS group
Bring in every company's books
Zoho Books organizations connect directly and refresh every night. Companies on Xero, QuickBooks or any other system upload a trial balance each month.
Consolidate
Accounts are mapped once to one group chart, each company is translated into the group currency, and fees, loans and investments between your companies are eliminated.
Add the subscription figures
Customers, MRR and its movements, and trials go in as statistic lines: a grid, a file upload, or sent automatically from your billing system.
Switch on the SaaS pack
The statistic lines, dashboards and report layouts below are created for you.

KPIs
Customers, recurring revenue, churn, retention, margin per customer and runway.
Two draft report layouts
- Management P&L with ARR: the profit and loss with annual recurring revenue shown beside it.
- Subscription metrics with the P&L: the subscription figures and the profit and loss on one page.
What you get
- Group statements: balance sheet, profit and loss and cash flow for any month, quarter or year, with comparisons, tied to a consolidation worksheet that has a column per company.
- Subscription KPIs beside the financials: MRR, churn, retention and margin per customer, for the group.
- Budget against actual for each company and for the group.
- Board packs with the group's KPIs, refreshed with the month and locked.
Good to know
- Finconsol does not read from your billing system. The figures arrive by grid, upload or the key your system uses to send them.
- While a month is in progress, each new figure replaces the previous one for that month. The figure freezes when the month is closed.
- Statistics sit beside the accounts. They are not journal entries and do not change any balance.
- The group reports in one currency. Xero and QuickBooks companies join by trial balance upload today, with direct connections coming soon.
