# Presentation currency

> The currency in which the group's financial statements are presented.

## Why does it matter in a group?

The presentation currency is a choice made by the group, not a fact about any company.[1](#src-1) Using one currency for the whole group means every number can be added and compared. Companies with a different [functional currency](/blog/glossary/functional-currency/) are translated into it, using the [closing rate](/blog/glossary/closing-rate/) for the balance sheet and the [average rate](/blog/glossary/average-rate/) for profit. Using the same group currency in every month's reports keeps comparison like for like. Changing it later means restating every comparative figure, so choose it once.

## A small example

Zenvara's group presents in pounds sterling (GBP). Palmridge's revenue of AED 4,800,000 for September 2026, at the average rate of 0.2025, is GBP 972,000 in the group statements.
